Helping hand in the garden

Updated: Apr 5, 2022

It is not uncommon that in Belarus or even in Russia people would have a garden area. Winters are long and bitterly cold. One must stock up on the needed provisions to make it through the cold season each year. They are trained from the beginning of their schooldays to plant and take care of a garden. This is a common necessity and so it was not unusual when Ludmila asked me to go with her and pick strawberries so that she could make a drink out of them. You never know what or who you may come in contact with that you maybe able to share the LORD with. So, off we went to the village to pick strawberries with a small bucket and high hopes of touching someone’s life.

We arrived at Ludmilla’s friends garden (or dacha Ru.) and started to pick the berries. Down on my hands and knees and moving slowly through the rows picking as I go. What did I see? It seemed so familiar from my past life without Christ. It was some sort of plant that I seemed to know. It looked like fingers with it’s five leaves that were jagged on the edges. Yes, it was pot (marijuana) and it was all around me, as I stood up and looked around, I was standing next to the outhouse and all around there were plants reaching way over my head. They were so heavily laden with buds that the plants were stooping over. There was a time in my life that this would have been my lucky day to stumble onto such a harvest, but I am a new creature in Christ Jesus and He has changed me. Oh, sure I was tempted, but even though there were no laws in Belarus about smoking pot and I did not smoke anyway, I had to get a picture of this to give GOD the glory of how much the Word of GOD is powerful in changing lives under the anointing of the Holy Spirit. It was strange that I went there to change someone’s life and GOD showed me how much He changed mine. Praise the LORD!!!
